Acceptable Use Policy.
The rules for using Fyldit. This policy forms part of your agreement with Funerals & Tech Limited.
1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) sets out what you may and may not do when using Fyldit (“the Service”). It applies to all users. Our goal is to keep Fyldit safe, secure and reliable for everyone.
2. Permitted Use
Fyldit is a secure, zero-knowledge vault for storing, organising and sharing important personal and household documents across your 9 Life Packs. You may use it to:
- Store encrypted notes, documents and files.
- Share selected items with trusted contacts, or temporarily with others using a Guest Pass.
- Set up expiry reminders for documents.
- Configure Unlock on Death and Unlock on Incapacity for legacy and emergency access.
- Set up Vault Recovery through your Trusted Circle.
A full description of these features is in our Terms & Conditions.
3. Prohibited Conduct
You must not use Fyldit to do any of the following (the account holder is entirely liable for what they receive, store and send from Fyldit):
3.1 Illegal activity
- Store, transmit or share content that breaks any applicable law or regulation.
- Facilitate or promote criminal activity, including fraud, money laundering, terrorism financing or human trafficking.
- Store, share or transmit child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
3.2 Harmful content
- Store or share malware, viruses, ransomware or any code designed to harm systems or data.
- Upload content intended to harass, threaten, defame or intimidate others.
- Store hate speech, content inciting violence or content promoting discrimination.
3.3 Intellectual property infringement
- Store content that infringes the copyright, trademark or other intellectual property rights of others.
- Use Fyldit to distribute pirated software, media or other copyrighted material without authorisation.
3.4 Service abuse
- Attempt to bypass, disable or interfere with security features, including encryption, authentication, rate limiting or access controls.
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers or crawlers) to access Fyldit without our written permission.
- Deliberately overload the Service with excessive requests or storage operations.
- Create multiple accounts to circumvent plan limits or to evade suspension.
- Share your account credentials, or sell or transfer access to your account.
3.5 Restricted data
- Store data that you are prohibited from holding under applicable regulations, such as certain classified, national-security or regulated financial data.
- Use Fyldit as a primary store for regulated data that requires specific compliance certifications we do not hold.
4. Content Scanning and Zero-Knowledge Encryption
Fyldit uses a zero-knowledge encryption model: your vault content is encrypted on your own device before it reaches us, and we cannot read, access or decrypt it. This is explained in full in our Security Overview.
Because of this design, we do not and cannot scan the contents of your encrypted files. Any automated safety checks operate only on your own device before encryption, or on limited unencrypted technical information such as file size or format. These checks never give us access to, or rights over, the contents of your vault.
5. Fair Use and Account Tiers
Every new account starts with a free first month with full Personal+ features. At the end of that month, your account converts to the paid Personal+ plan as described in our Pricing & Refund Policy, unless you choose not to upgrade.
If you choose not to upgrade, your account stays live as a free account, but is limited to:
- 5 notes maximum
- 3 documents maximum
- 100 MB of storage
The free account is for personal, non-commercial use. Content or usage above these limits requires a paid plan. Where an account moves to the free tier, our downgrade and data-handling process in the Pricing & Refund Policy applies, including the grace period to download anything held above the free limits.
We may review, restrict or suspend accounts that show signs of abuse — for example, creating multiple accounts to gain additional free storage, automated bulk operations, or use that places an unreasonable load on the Service. We may also apply reasonable technical limits to protect the Service for all users.
6. Reporting Violations
If you believe another user is breaching this policy, or you encounter harmful content, please contact us at support@fyldit.com with the subject line “AUP Violation Report”. We will investigate promptly and take appropriate action.
7. Enforcement
Where we identify a breach, we may take one or more of the following actions:
- Warning — we notify you and ask you to stop the prohibited conduct.
- Content restriction — we restrict access to specific content where technically possible, given that vault content is zero-knowledge encrypted.
- Account suspension — we temporarily suspend your access.
- Account termination — we permanently close your account and delete your data.
- Legal action — we refer the matter to law enforcement or take legal proceedings.
We will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to respond before taking permanent action, unless the breach poses an immediate risk to the Service or to others. Where a legal hold applies, the process in our Terms & Conditions takes precedence.
8. Appeals
If you believe enforcement action was taken in error, you may appeal by emailing legal@fyldit.com within 14 days of the action. Include your account email, a description of the action and why you believe it was incorrect. We will review and respond within 30 days.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Acceptable Use Policy to reflect changes to the Service, emerging threats or legal requirements. We will publish the updated version with its effective date.
